1. Who we are
SiteWatch ("we", "us") operates the website at uptime.nepsesignal.com — a website monitoring platform and a suite of free network tools. This policy describes how we handle personal data when you use the Service.
2. Data we collect
When you create an account:
- Email address (required)
- Display name (optional)
- Password — stored as a salted hash, never in plain text
- Account creation date and last sign-in time
When you create a monitor:
- The URLs and endpoints you ask us to monitor
- The alert email addresses you specify
- Check results — status, response time, HTTP code — and incident timestamps
- SSL certificate and WHOIS metadata for the monitored domains
When you use the free tools:
- The hostname or URL you submit for the lookup
- Standard request metadata (IP, user agent, timestamp) for rate-limiting and abuse prevention
Automatically:
- Browser type and version, screen size, language
- Anonymized IP address and approximate geo-location
- Referring URL and pages visited within the site
3. How we use the data
- Operate the monitoring pipeline and deliver alerts you configured.
- Authenticate you and protect your account.
- Improve the Service — measure which tools are useful, identify bugs.
- Send transactional emails (alerts, password resets, account notices). We don't send marketing emails.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to keep you signed in (session tokens stored in localStorage) and to remember your preferences.
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate site usage. GA4 sets cookies that record anonymized data including session duration, pages visited, and device information. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
Some pages on this site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its partner ad vendors use cookies and similar technologies to deliver ads relevant to your interests based on your prior visits to this site and other sites.
You can review and control how Google uses data from sites and apps that use their services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or by visiting aboutads.info to opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising.
For visitors from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland: we rely on consent for personalized advertising. By using the Service you may be asked for your consent in line with applicable GDPR/UK GDPR requirements.
6. Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Infrastructure providers hosting the Service (compute, database, email delivery) under appropriate data-processing terms.
- Analytics & advertising — Google Analytics and Google AdSense, as described above.
- Authorities — when legally required to respond to a valid request.
7. Data retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Check history: retained for up to 365 days, then aggregated and the raw rows pruned.
- Free-tool request logs (IP, query): retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention.
- Email delivery logs: 90 days.
8. Security
We use TLS in transit, salted password hashing, JWT-secured API access, and row-level ownership checks. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data like our own and respond promptly to suspected incidents.
9. Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Export your account and monitor data
- Delete your account at any time from the dashboard
- Object to processing or withdraw consent for analytics/ads
To exercise any of these rights, write to us via the contact page and we'll respond within 30 days.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us so we can remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the site, with the revised effective date shown at the top.
